Letter to Families – January 2021

Dear Parent,   On behalf of the staff of John F. Kennedy Elementary School, we hope that the New Year finds you and your family healthy and safe.  We are very excited about the prospects that 2021 will bring to us here at JFK.  The staff and I have been re-energized from winter break.  Our staff is working hard to further support your child's remote learning efforts for the third quarter.   With this, we will pass out supplies and materials in the very near future that will help your child at home with their remote learning efforts.  Your child's teacher will be working hard this month as they plan and prepare items for this very important deployment on January 26-29.   Over the coming months we have some very important school events that I would like to highlight for you.  Please mark your calendars for Friday, February 12 as KCKPS holds its winter "Family Advocacy Day (FAS)".  Your child's teacher will be sharing information with you soon as they schedule Zoom conferences with you to discuss your child's mid-year progress.   On Thursday, February 11 we will host our Virtual Valentine's Day Party at 2:30 p.m.  As we've done with…

Letter to Families – May 2020

Dear Parent of a JFK Student, On Monday, May 18 we will pass out student belongings from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.  This would include items that might have been in a student’s desk or “cubby” area.  If a student ordered a class picture, these pictures will also be placed into your child’s bag of belongings.  We will use the front car and bus lanes to hand your child’s belongings to you as you drive through our parking lot.  Possibly some students may not have items that needed to be bagged up by your child’s teacher.  If you like, you may want to confirm ahead of time with your child’s teacher via email or text if a bag has been created for them. We will also collect library books and string instruments that may need to be returned to the school.  Your help with labeling the library books or instruments with your child’s name is greatly appreciated. Our online learning efforts will continue through the last day of school, Thursday, May 21.  As always, thank you for all of your help and support during this process.  This has been an amazing journey for all of us and we greatly appreciate…

Letter to Parents – Late April, 2020

Dear Parent, I regret to share with you that we are currently on hold with being at John F. Kennedy Elementary School on Mondays to assist with technology and printed packet needs.  As you may recall, I recently shared with you that construction on our new front entrance is scheduled to start on Monday, May 4.  Due to the forthcoming construction work, and the current stay-in-place orders, we need to pull back on our tech support efforts on Mondays. Please know, technology support is provided by KCKPS.  Please call the Call Center at 913-627-2455 and ask to speak to a representative that can assist you with your student’s device.  If the tech problem can’t be resolved over the phone, it is my understanding that you can schedule an appointment to visit Central Office and staff will assist you with your student’s technology needs.   You will need to call 913-627-2455 in advance to schedule an appointment before going to Central Office. I apologize for any inconvenience our closing on Mondays may cause you.  I will keep you posted if anything changes regarding our access to JFK.  As always, we greatly appreciate all of the support that you continue to give in…
