Letter to Families – March 2020

Dear Parent,

On behalf of the staff of John F. Kennedy Elementary School, we hope that the New Year finds you and your family healthy and safe.  We are very excited about the prospects that 2021 will bring to us here at JFK.  The staff and I have been re-energized from winter break.  Our staff is working hard to further support your child’s remote learning efforts for the third quarter.   With this, we will pass out supplies and materials in the very near future that will help your child at home with their remote learning efforts.  Your child’s teacher will be working hard this month as they plan and prepare items for this very important deployment on January 26-29.

Over the coming months we have some very important school events that I would like to highlight for you.  Please mark your calendars for Friday, February 12 as KCKPS holds its winter “Family Advocacy Day (FAS)”.  Your child’s teacher will be sharing information with you soon as they schedule Zoom conferences with you to discuss your child’s mid-year progress.

On Thursday, February 11 we will host our Virtual Valentine’s Day Party at 2:30 p.m.  As we’ve done with our last few virtual parties, we’ll supply the treat bags for our students to enjoy during their party.  We will pass out Valentine treat bags the week of February 8.   Social events and celebrations like this are so important for our students!  Thank you to our PTO for helping to support this effort.

Please know that we will also continue to plan and prep for the next phase of our school’s re-opening.  As you may recall from this past November, the KCKPS School Board extended remote learning through the end of the third quarter, April 1.  More information will be coming out in the coming months on how this will look for the projected return date of April 5, 2021.   The KCKPS website also provides ongoing information about the reopening of our districts’ schools and programs.

I hope you know that your JFK staff looks forward to the day that we get to see you and your child here in our building.  Safety and security will always be our number one priority.  As we get closer to our return, your child’s teacher and I will keep you apprised as to how this will look for your child.  Until then, please call us if you have any questions or concerns.

Happy New Year and, as always, thank you for all that you do to help support our learning efforts!

Sincerely,
Bob Wilcox
Principal
